Reviving vintage and heritage properties has been a passion we have worked on together for 30 years. Meroo Farm is perhaps the biggest heritage renovation we have undertaken and we are excited to welcome you to this magical homestead.

About Meroo Farm

Nestled in the lush landscape of Meroo Meadow between Berry and Nowra on the NSW South Coast, Meroo Farm is a heritage-listed 1901 dairy farmhouse transformed through architectural preservation, upcycled design, and sustainable rural living.

Rescued and restored over two decades by heritage architect Robin Graham and creative director Catherine Shields, the property weaves local history with modern comforts. Historic timber structures—including an old nuns' convent and a Sunday School classroom—were salvaged from demolition and trucked to the property to create a sprawling 6-bedroom, 6-bathroom estate filled with bespoke details, antique furnishings, and industrial-edge finishes.

Today, Meroo Farm stands as a masterclass in low-impact country living, featuring an off-grid ethos, extensive kitchen gardens, and modern luxuries like an EV charger and Starlink Wi-Fi. While preserving its rich Shoalhaven heritage, the estate is now a destination for intimate workshops, long-table dinners, cooking schools, wellness retreats, and boutique group stays.

Sustainability is Key

At South Coast Escapes, we are committed to sustainable practices as much as possible. We believe that every action we take can make a positive impact on the environment. That's why we have designed our vacation rentals to be as eco-friendly as possible.

• Recycled Historic Buildings: Major structures—including a former nuns' convent and a Sunday School classroom—were rescued from demolition and trucked to the property to preserve local architectural history.

• Salvaged Materials: Built and restored using reclaimed vintage timber, second-hand doors, and windows amassed over decades of heritage preservation.

• Reused Architectural Elements: Features upcycled corrugated iron roof sheeting and flat galvanised metal cladding inspired by classic Australian farm sheds.

• Circular Interior Design: Every piece of furniture and decor was consciously sourced via Facebook Marketplace, vintage stores, junk yards, and local op-shops—completely avoiding online flatpack waste and new manufacturing.

• On-Site Rainwater Harvesting: Water security is supported entirely by roof-collected rainwater tanks across the estate.

• Closed-Loop Waste Management: Wastewater and organic waste are processed sustainably on-site through localised systems and an active, thriving compost setup.

• Seed-to-Blooms Flower Production: Vibrant seasonal flowers, dahlias, and fresh produce are grown from seed on-site and nurtured in the property's dedicated potting veranda.
